Apple Pollen is Available for Breeders

Apple pollen is now available in the webstore. I try to add new stuff everyday as the bloom progresses. I also try to ship daily. There will be a smattering of pollen from my own varieties, but many of them are still small trees or a few branches, so that is limited still. It is a good bloom year, so I’m going all out on pollination. I applied hundreds of bags to isolate the blossoms, and ended up spending about 400.00 on Organza bags. I know right?! WTF. Each day more are blooming. I may have a little help this year it looks like, which is good. There is no way I can pollinate all of these branches myself, while also collecting, processing and mailing pollen. I have to replace all of my pollen collection too. As a variety first startst to bloom, i’m usually there collecting the first few blossoms that are almost ready to open. I will collect as few as one or two blossoms, just to get the pollen as early as possible to make a few pollinations that I might otherwise miss on the early bloomers.

I better get out there and get to work. The next 7 to 10 days will probably be the peak bloom season. My mom is coming out today to help. If anyone lives around Northern California and wants to spend a day pollinating get it touch. It’s not a bad job on a nice spring day, just a little overwhelming when you’re a delusional psycho, or is it ambitious genius, maybe there isn’t any difference :D
