Axes and Hatchets

Why use an axe when they are dangerous and require a good deal of physical effort and skill? Well, I guess it's probably one of those things you get or you don't. For me, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I enjoy using and just knowing how to use simple tools that can do a lot. Of the essential tools of the Temperate woods, an axe is up there near the top. They are also just fun. I mean it's a sharp thing on the end of the stick that could hurt you or others. That's like a man's wet dream right there. Yep, sharp things on sticks... There is something addictive about using an axe in the woods. Once you start to get good at it, it's relaxing and de-stressing. It also raises testosterone according to a medical study. What's not to like?
